Has anyone else tried Song of Syx? Very different game (city builder) than Aurora, but scratches similar itch for me. It’s a super complex system that I enjoy learning and balancing. Worth a check out.
Sidenote, there doesn’t appear to be a specific Off-Topic forum category like there was on the old forum, or I’d have put this in it.
I do. I don’t have as much time in it as I probably should. I’m honestly not very good at it LOL I always have trouble finding the right balance between various things, and I always forget that science works differently in that vs others of the same genre.
I haven’t got many hours in it, nor have I circled back to playing it as of late, but it’s certainly worth giving a look. I believe there’s still a demo up for Songs of Syx on it’s steam page with all the features of the base game but lagging a couple versions behind if anyone’s interested in giving it a look.
Off and on. I do like a touch of the bronze age sanitation engineer/race riot prevention sim. It’s definitely earned a spot on my GOAT list alongside Dwarf Fortress, Aurora, SS13, Starsector, Kenshi, and Project Zomboid.
Never heard of Song of Syx or Space Station 13 before, but they both look great. And for the price, I’m definitely going to give SS13 a go.
Their website has Song of Syx available for free as well. It looks like it stays updated, just with a lag behind the paid version, so that’s pretty cool too.
I really like how Song of Syx handles “achievements”, which they call titles. When you reach a notable achievement or milestone, you get a title you can use in future games that comes with a small bonus to some feature of the game. You can only pick five titles for a given game.
