My colony was taken over by strange aliens with 20 power armour rating

Chapter 1: The Outpost at Emden

The Emden system was never meant to be a sprawling metropolitan world. It was designed from the ground up as a critical military and logistical forward base for our expanding empire. Located at a strategic crossroads, we built up the infrastructure to sustain deep-space operations: high-capacity cargo handling systems to shuffle materials, a vital refueling station for our long-range fleets, and five state-of-the-art maintenance facilities capable of servicing ships up to 7,000 tons.

Because of its strategic value, High Command originally slated Emden for a heavy orbital defense grid consisting of 4 Plasma STO (Surface-to-Orbit) units and 4 Laser STO units. However, due to intense military escalation on another active frontline, logistics prioritized those assets elsewhere. Emden was left short-handed, receiving only the 4 Plasma STO units to defend its entire airspace.

It was a functional but vulnerable logistics hub. And then, it became a ghost town.

Out of nowhere, without any warning from our system sensors, a strange alien force materialized directly over the outpost. Our 4 Plasma STOs attempted to lock onto the targets, but the enemy bypassed the defense net too quickly. Before the skeleton crew and engineers could lock down the facilities, hostile dropships breached the atmosphere. The forward base was taken, and our critical refueling and maintenance infrastructure fell into alien hands.

Chapter 2: The Failure of the 1st Armored Corps

High Command could not allow our premier refueling hub to remain occupied. Trusting in mechanized speed, the 1st Armored Corps—a 20,000-ton division of mechanized infantry and light armor—was dispatched to retake the base.

Scanning the outpost, intelligence estimated the enemy force to be incredibly small: roughly 1,000 infantrymen, totaling a mere 6,000 to 8,000 tons. We expected a quick sweep. Instead, we ran into a technological nightmare.

Our light tanks, built with our standard 8-rating armor plating, moved to secure the maintenance bays. But as they engaged, our standard weapons bounced harmlessly off the enemy. Battle telemetry returned a terrifying fact: these strange aliens were equipped with elite power armor boasting a staggering armor rating of 20.

Our racial armor tech was historically light, with 6 armor rating, and our vehicles only had 8 armor. Our weapons simply could not pierce their heavy suits. Meanwhile, their advanced weaponry tore through our hulls like paper. The 1st Armored Corps was utterly broken and forced to retreat, leaving the elite alien detachment holding the base.

Chapter 3: Adapting the Doctrine

We learned the hard way that numbers mean nothing against a technological brick wall. If we want our forward base back, we have to change how we fight.

Our scientists are now rushing the development of heavy Anti-Vehicle (AV) weapons and Bombardment Artillery designed with a single goal: achieving a weapon penetration value of 20+ to crack that elite power armor. Furthermore, we are completely redesigning our vehicles, manually up-armoring them to ratings of 12-16 so they can survive the alien counter-fire.

The strange aliens think they have secured a permanent foothold in Emden. They have only bought themselves time. We are building a new 35,000-ton specialized vanguard, and we will take our refueling station back.

Chapter 4: The Battle for Emden’s Orbit

Time was a luxury we did not have. With our critical refueling station and maintenance bays under alien occupation, High Command ordered an immediate orbital counter-attack. Emden had to be retaken as fast as humanly possible, even if it meant deploying a fragmented, piecemeal fleet.

The logistical reality was grim. The vast majority of our primary battle fleets were tied down on other fronts. To make matters worse, two of our vital Escort Carriers—each packing 8 Assault Shuttles—were permanently stationed in the Muscate system, forced to stand guard in case the hostile Kingdom of Rohanna attempted to exploit our distraction and launch an invasion into our home space. High Command could not risk moving them.

Instead, we scraped together a makeshift strike force from whatever hulls were available.

[Main Strike Force Composition]
 ├── 2x Naraku Escort Carriers (Home Fleet) -> 8x Colombo Short-Range Bombers
 ├── 10x Singapore-class Long-Range Fast Bombers (8x Size-2 Launchers each)
├── 2x Duelo Fast Attack Crafts (25x Size-2 Launchers each) [STRANDED]
 └── 6x Lima-class Patrol Attack Crafts (16x Size-2 Launchers each)

The spearhead was supposed to rely on pure alpha-strike missile doctrine, led by our heaviest hitters: two Duelo-class Fast Attack Crafts. Each Duelo carried a massive payload of 25x Size-2 missile launchers, specifically calibrated with enough concentrated firepower to sink or completely cripple an 8,000-ton warship in a single salvo.

However, in Aurora navy operations, logistics can defeat you faster than the enemy. Because the Duelos were hyper-optimized for speed and firepower, they carried dangerously short fuel reserves. They were the first to arrive at the outer edges of the Emden system, but their fuel gauges were flashing red. They were forced to drop out of their cruise vectors, anchor in deep space, and broadcast an urgent message back to High Command requesting an immediate tanker deployment. Until the fuel arrived, our heaviest anti-ship assets were completely dead in the water.

With the Duelos stranded and the slow Lima-class Patrol Attack Crafts still lagging far behind in other sectors, the burden of the opening wave fell entirely upon our naval aviation units: two Naraku-class Escort Carriers freshly deployed from the Home Fleet.

Instead of rushing the entire fragile formation blindly into the alien defense grid, the flight commanders chose a cautious, calculated approach. A single Singapore-class Long-Range Fast Bomber was detached to move ahead of the fleet. Its mission was a dangerous solo run: push deep into the inner system, light up its active sensors, and scout the space directly ahead of the Emden colony to locate the alien fleet’s exact positioning.

The plan was a coordinated trap. The two Naraku carriers held their positions just outside the enemy’s projected intercept range. On their flight decks, crews stood by twenty-four hours a day, keeping a combined complement of 8x Colombo-class Short-Range Fast Bombers fueled and armed. Each Colombo was packed to its structural limit with 16x Size-2 missile launchers.

The tension in the fleet was suffocating as the lone Singapore scout crossed the threshold into the inner system, scanning the dark. The moment that Singapore bomber meets the enemy and logs their thermal signatures, the Naraku carriers will open their flight bays. All 8 Colombo bombers will scream into the black, unleashing a massive, synchronized wall of short-range missiles to test the limits of the alien fleet’s point defenses.

The missile doors are open. The scout is in position. The countdown to contact has begun.

Chapter 5: The First Wave and the Price of Speed

The gamble paid off. The lone Singapore bomber pushed deep into the inner system and illuminated the darkness. Telemetry data flashed back to the Naraku carriers, confirming the composition of the alien occupation fleet: one massive Troop Transport, one Escort warship moving at 3,000 km/s, and a hyper-fast Scout vessel clocking a terrifying 6,300 km/s.

Looking at the wreckage in orbit, tactical officers noted a grim but encouraging fact—another alien scout was already dead in Emden’s orbit, completely vaporized earlier by our 4x Plasma STO units before the colony fell. Knowing how lethal and fast these scouts were, High Command issued a singular, clear directive: The active scout must die first. Its speed was too much of a threat to ignore.

As the Singapore scout held the lock, the two Naraku carriers opened their bays, launching 8x Colombo-class Short-Range Fast Bombers. The sudden appearance of multiple strike groups completely confused the alien sensors. Taking advantage of the chaos, the first wave of 4 Colombo bombers let loose a wall of Size-2 missiles.

The result was a textbook alpha strike. The high-speed alien scout took a direct grid of impacts and disintegrated instantly. Simultaneously, the enemy escort took two devastating, penetrating hits. The internal explosions likely crippled her combat capabilities, though final sensor sweeps showed she was still stubbornly standing and maintaining orbit. Satisfied with trading zero hulls for a dead scout and a crippled escort, High Command ordered all bombers and carriers to break contact and withdraw to safe distance.

Twenty days of agonizing waiting followed. Finally, the long-awaited fleet tanker arrived, closely trailed by the six slow-moving Lima-class Patrol Attack Crafts. With a fully refueled fleet and unified fire support, High Command was brimming with confidence that total victory was at hand. They ordered a full sortie to wipe the system clean.

But space combat is a unforgiving teacher, and luck was not on our side.

Eager to engage, the two newly refueled Duelo Fast Attack Crafts sprinted ahead of the fleet. Far behind them, the main body of 10x Singapore-class Long-Range Bombers struggled to keep pace with the Duelos’ blistering intercept speed. This massive separation gap proved fatal.

The two Duelos entered the engagement zone completely alone and were ambushed by a fresh alien squadron consisting of three brand-new, hyper-fast warships. Caught without screen support, both Duelos were battered and sunk by overwhelming enemy fire. Yet, true to their design, before their hulls ruptured, the Duelo crews managed to lock targets and deliver a crippling counter-blow, heavily damaging the enemy formation.

By the time the 10x Singapore bombers finally arrived at the coordinate grid, the space was filled with burning metal and emergency beacons. The Singapores paused just long enough to scoop up the Duelo survivors from their lifepods. Refusing to retreat, the bomber crews pushed their throttles forward into the teeth of the enemy.

The Singapores opened fire, unleashing a massive volley that hammered the alien squad, successfully sinking two of the fast warships. But the cost was catastrophic. The lone remaining alien fast warship, dodging through the missile fragments, closed the distance and systematically picked apart and destroyed all 10 Singapore bombers.

The last alien survivor was heavily damaged, isolated, and ripe for execution. High Command scrambled the remaining 8 Colombo bombers from the Naraku escort carriers to deliver the final blow. But the alien captain knew the math; they could no longer win this war. Before our bombers could enter launch parameters, the final alien warship turned about and fled into the deep black of the jump points, leaving the space above Emden completely empty.

The skies over our forward base are finally clear, but the cost was paid in the lives of our finest pilots. The orbital blockade is broken. The ground invasion to crack their 20-power armor infantry is next.
