Was there a change in how CMCs decide what bodies to settle on?
In previous versions, if a player put a colony on a body, the CMCs would not settle on the same body. In my current game, I’ve currently got 2 CMCs on different comets that I’ve already put colonies on, with orbital miners and mass drivers to boot.
IIRC, it used to be that the player could prevent CMCs from spawning on some world by placing an empty colony, which was nice to have as an option even if there’s not, strictly speaking, a mechanical reason to prevent CMC formation in specific locations. Since this could be considered gamey or an exploit, I suppose empty colonies not preventing CMCs from spawning makes sense, but if I’ve already got orbital miners and mass drivers on-site I’d really rather see the civilians go somewhere else?
Yes.
CMCs will only respect your colony if you have population or automines there.
(And I don’t think Steve clarified if automines includes orbital miners.)
I remember a discussion about this same topic, in the old forum.
There were both favourable and unfavourable players to your proposal here, nuclearslurpee.
To avoid CMCs in my potential colonies, in my last 2.7.1 matches I’m accepting to have no CMCs at all, unchecking the option in the game setup:
I wonder if marking them as military only colonies would stop them spawning, dont recall having a problem with them in my games but I just buy the minerals as soon as I spot them popping up. So never even thought about it before.
I share a body with a NPR, which has become hostile after several years of cohabitation.
The ground units I have there, are not attacking/invading the enemy colony: how can I force them to do?
