How do Alien Constructs work in 2.7.1?

…and how do you activate them?

Mine is currently “Dormant”.

Leave Xenoarcheolgy units on planet with them to activate. To gain from them you will need research labs and population on the planet

More specifically:

When ancient constructs are found they are Dormant, and the type of construct is unknown to the player. Xenoarchaeology units have a chance to discover what research field the construct belongs to. I don’t remember the math behind that chance but the larger the unit and the longer they are present the better their chance per cycle is to figure it out.

Once the construct type is known, it is still dormant until a population of at least 1 million is present on the body. Orbital populations count so you can still use constructs on uninhabitable worlds. Once you have 1 million population there, the construct is Active.

Active constructs give a global bonus to all research projects of that field equal to 10% of the construct’s rating. Research projects in the same research field as the construct, on the body with the active construct get the full bonus of the construct.

For example: A 90% Logistics construct with a local population of at least 1 million gives +9% research to all Logistics research projects in your entire empire, and +90% research to Logistics research projects in labs on the planet this construct is on.

There are other interactions constructs have with spoiler stuff that I won’t mention here.
