Quick Suggestions

In the Economics window, would it be possible to have a list of the ships orbiting a body, similarly as we have a list of the ground units?
I think it can be helpful sometimes, instead of opening the Galactic Map and find the system and right click on it; also because here we have a list of all the ships in that system.
Some space to house this list could be in the SY Tasks tab, to rename as “SY Tasks / Ships”, or (maybe better) in the GU / Stockpiles one, renaming it as “Units / Stockpiles”.

Planetary Industry Specialization

Likely suggested before but ere we go,

The engineering projects as describes in the 3.0 patch notes gave me the idea of engineering projects which reduce the mineral, wealth or BP cost of certain ship components and/or buildings. E.g. a world could be specialised in production of jump drives or fire controls etc. It could also work in tiers too. I thought perhaps colonies could have “slots” for specialisation, based upon the population capacity of the body. Say one slot for 100-500m 2 for 500-1000m etc etc or some other mechanic for balance.

Could be a good way to encourage distributed manufacturing hubs, rather than turning earth into a 40k forgeworld.

With the new lurker missles I can see a lot of people wanting to place minefields. To support this it would be great to have / be able to create template sets of waypoints to use for deploying them. Was think you could either produce some pre-sets or use the existing waypoints to create some options. - Ie create a new waypoint type as an anchor waypoint, add normal waypoints to the map and then save a list of selected waypoints with the location as a reference to the anchor point. Could then drop the template in other systems by reference to the placed anchor point.

When right clicking a fleet on the tactical map, make it so that the game doesn’t open a new naval organization window if there’s already one open.

If nothing else, I’d love the ability to type in coordinates to place or move a waypoint.

I prefer the game opening a new window. If I already have a naval window open, I don’t want to lose my place.

Same, I use it to keep track of multiple fleets at the same time using the ability to jump to each fleet on the tactical map by double clicking the tick box to jump to selected fleet. As well as not forgetting about a fleet, Example, I need to send commercial ships through a jump point but combat has started near it on the other side. So I will open a fleet window with those commercial fleets selected and then place them behind the other combat fleet windows. Once combat is finished and fleet windows closed I have the commercial fleet window now showing on top to remind me to send them through, or RUN AWAY SIR ROBIN!

Perhaps the answer is to persist the selection so for those that want it toggled on by default can just do so when they start their game and then they can forget about it.

I made this suggestion on the old forums a while back but it kind of relied on configurable interrupts, which we’ll have in 3.0, so I’m making it again. I think, for RP purposes at the least, it would be nice to have an event for the new year which can then be configured to interrupt. I often stop time at the new year to make summaries, maybe run Froggiest’s government simulator, or save the game (+1 vote for autosave, btw), and having it automatically interrupt instead of having to either cycle time manually by clicking a bunch or trying to time things to stop it at the right time would be quite nice. I understand that with anything over a daily increment, you will sometimes pass the 1st of January, but I think that is acceptable. I like to run daily increments anyway, personally, and I suspect that anyone that chooses to interrupt the game on the 1st will likely be doing so as well.

Hopefully this would take just a new record in the db and a couple of lines of code in the game loop to achieve. :crossed_fingers:

You can temporary fix that with a minimal ship you can rename timer, or clock, or anything really. Run Cycle orders to deliver a message every X time, year, month, or any other required timeframe.

Captured Ships
When a ship is captured it goes into its own fleet in a pre determined navy command.
Perhaps with a select button on the Admin command screen.
Saves scrolling down to the bottom of all navy orgs, even though lists can be collapsed.

Just a small tip. You can have several naval organization tabs open at the same time. This way you can easily move fleets into different commands with less tedious scrolling. (Moving the fleet from one window to another open naval org window)

It’s already possible: you can open more Naval Organization windows and move the ships as you need.

thanks, yes I know that, but to dump it in a specified one.

When you attempt to capture a ship, you cannot be sure of succeeding.
So, your selection could go in vain, if the attempt misses.
Instead, if it goes OK, I feel more logic to assign the ship to the Navy, and then (easily, as said before) assign it to the desired command.

Thats why I said captured. its after the event. Not capturing.
Only captured ships are affected.
You say its already possible: for me captured ships just go to the bottom of all naval commands.

Lets say I have a naval command for ops in a specific system where ships are in that system. Its easier to manage the organisation: towing, or putting the captured ship from there, rather than scrolling down and finding it in the list, particularly when capturing ships in different systems at the same time, with the boarding event occurs in different commands.

You can have one Naval Org window (w1) always up, showing the end of the commands list, and another Naval Org window (w2) opened, whose list you scroll to select where the newly captured fleet should go. Click and drag the fleet from w1 to the position you wish in w2, and it’s done.
Otherwise, I don’t understand what you wish to do.
