At the commencement of a new game I have built a 25cm C4 Plasma Carronade , Range 160,000 km , Tracking Speed 3,000 km/s and incorporated this as an STO, this STO in turn has become part of a defensive bunker ( with other units) to give Earth a feeling of protection ( none in reality).
I now want to upgrade the defensive bunker to incorporate an updated STO with a longer range and higher tracking speed as I have researched further and both have increased. What is the method please to incorporate an upgraded unit which is one part of a defensive setup? Have I got to delete the whole unit and start again from scratch or is there another way.
An STO is a standalone unit that is part of a ground formation. You can create more advanced STOs and add them to the same formation if needed, or create a new formation.
My “defensive bunker” is the name that I have given to a collection of ground formation units built around the 25cm Plasma Carronade for planetary defense , a few years into my new game. These include Infantry , HQ and supply units. I was wondering how to upgrade and replace the Carronade STO ( or others) when I have researched more advanced items ( such as increased range and tracking speed for the Carronade).
May I ask you if these units are built together with the STO gun?
I mean, the STO gun and these units are they in the same larger unit that you build using only one command?
If so, can you please eventually share the design of this larger unit?
I built the unit just as you would an infantry battalion/brigade etc. Took 20 carronade units and added infantry , military police etc to make a defensive unit approx 5000 tons. No actual use as a defense but a start. Just wanted to know how I could , if possible, take say the carronade unit and replace it with an upgraded unit with longer range and higher tracking speed.
