I’ve suspended the account of SpookyFam and deleted the last few posts. After having to delete posts for a second time, plus receiving a private message explaining he was trying to prevent Aurora becoming a cult, I think we have reached the point where the negative impact on the forum is greater than my desire to allow free debate.

Don’t get too riled up about it. We live in a troll era where younger generations pretend to be inclusive by creating an us vs them environment on pretty much everything.
The way I see it, your game your rules, we just piggy backing on the experience and we are grateful for it.

A cult? Really? That’s going very far. I don’t think they understood that this is your hobby, and ultimately you do what you want with it. That we like or dislike something about Aurora doesn’t really affect you other than emmotionnaly.
Suggestions are one thing, and if we can give you ideas you like then all the better, but being so forcefull about it was a bit strange.

Given that this is the second time you’ve had to rather publically take drastic moderation action, and that I can’t recall this really being the case on the old forums aside from squashing spambots, I do worry a bit that the accessibility of this new Discourse-based forum is attracting a higher proportion of less … even-keeled participants?
Of course, we can handle an occasional internet crazy, but I don’t want to see this new forum become a moderation burden distracting Steve from slaving away making updates for me having fun with his hobby.

Its early days, not sure if there is anything to worry about. This last one in particular was just weird really. It didn’t really devolve into drama like other instances.

This new forum is indeed more attractive to the new generation.
Though it IS a major improvement over the old one.
Yes, it can be a distraction as I engage in good faith for a while before finally giving up.
Perhaps another way to look at it is that we have over five hundred forum members now and only two were a problem, so Aurora players are over 99% polite and reasonable

Fleet battles tend to be executions, but that is because they are won by the scouting battles. And that is where the tension for me is. Can I find out the information I need about the enemy ship classes and missiles? Can I build an efficient fleet around that knowledge? A lot of the game is stretching the utility of ships that were built to be efficient killers of an enemy long gone to beat the next.
