I know it was already posted on the old forums, but some people may be reading for the first time, so please add any comments for the Empire of the Stars AAR in this thread.
IMO, a very good story with thrilling descriptions of the campaign situations, and informative about some game mechanics and ship design choices.
It was made using 2.5.1 version, right?
Yes, I think so. I’ve only posted about 30 pages of the 225 so far, so it will take a while to post it all.
Hey, super new to the forums and the game. I’ve really enjoyed reading this series as it gave me a decent introduction to ship design and a lot of combat mechanics and considerations. Any particular reason you didn’t try to replicate the turret designs(ex. The real Kongo used double turrets) and instead went with fixed mounts? I know you’ve also probably got a lot going on but do you plan to cross post any more of the story soon? Thanks for your time and the game!
Yes, I will get around to posting more of the campaign. At the moment, I am distracted by RogueTech, which is an occasional addiction ![]()
I go through phases with using turrets vs fixed. The Suns Never Set campaign does use turrets for example for early 20th century-styled warships.
RogueTech can be fun. I like that for Aurora one can play olds version if one so chooses. Sadly the RogueTech devs seems to want to force everyone to play with the newest changes. Sometimes they seem to make changes that are not improvements. I really appreciate that you take the effort to try to make changes to Aurora improvements and to provide meaningful player choice.
Hope you enjoy your mech battles.
The extra mile you’ve gone for researching the history and naming conventions of imperial japanese military, technologies and equipment is really impressive.
