Decentralized government

How do I make a decentralized empire that is perfect for expansion

ill take any ideas

Just play the game mate, don’t stress about optimal play or efficiency. You’ll learn as you go. If you’re really stuck, it’s better to ask specific, detailed questions rather than all-encompassing ones.

My angle would be to naturally build things out. As I come across systems that can be self sustaining, I find a world that can easily be terraformed, and work from there. It may take a while, but you will soon have a new core world.

If I understand the question correctly, you can create ground forces, infrastructure, mines, and other buildings on Earth in advance, load them and the colonists into a dedicated fleet (very large fleet), and when you find a suitable world (or system, because you will need all types of resources), immediately send a ready-made expedition there. After that, the fleet will return to Earth for new cargo for the new planet.

You have 2 enemies (besides the Randy Spoilers): Distance and system generation RGN.

You’ll have to invest heavily into the following:

  • Propulsion
  • Propulsion Efficiency
  • Crew Efficency
  • Armour
  • JP stabilization gate tech

Your main fleet will have to rely on:

  • Fast Explorers - geosurvey systems can be done only after having identified worlds suitable for colonization
  • Quick Gate stabilizers - to allow civilians help later
  • Military Capable Logistic. Cannot rely on Commercial if you going this route. Your cargo either is infra or colonists or any other cargo will get attacked ans Patrols may be too expensive. Get Your 120 months or 60 months on a military cargo ship, just replenish and refuel, don’t overhaul. Put guns on it as deterrant, move in storms.
  • Heavy Grav Survey Sensors capability on your surevey ships. Don’t build 20 Geo and 20 Grav, just go for 50 Grav

Finally, you are in for a slow start as it is critical to literally empty Sol entirely prior venturing out in the void with the above strategy. Or, do the first jump exploration only, hopefully you can get valuable systems, build up and then go.

what is this?

As a turtle-style player, I can state that what really matters is fuel efficiency to get to distant systems. And engine power to do it in a reasonable time. :slightly_smiling_face:

My survey ships mostly contain only one sensor of both types each, since most of the time is spent moving to the survey point. The largest survey ship had 3 sensors of both types.

Random Generation Number

Long Story Short = Luck

And dont forget the TWO combat fleets, both head out with the colony fleet, one stays at the new colony planet to guard it, the other stays with the colony fleet to make sure it gets back to Earth in one piece.

Ground Forces include STO, so only one fleet is mandatory.

However, it depends on the player’s preferences.

If the enemy shoots against your colony missiles from afar, you need a fleet.

And to cover the civilian traffic that will start heading that way.
