I’m looking at changing the current icon set for Aurora. The existing ones don’t really have any consistent style and I would like the background to be transparent, so I it can be changed in v3.0. However, as you may have guessed, graphics is not my strong point 
If anyone would like to create a set for use in the game, please post them here. Longer-term, I hope to set things up so the user can customise the set they use.
This site has a bunch of good free-to-use game icons in a consistent style: https://game-icons.net/. A lot of them look pretty suitable for Aurora. A custom-made set would be ideal, but I think these would work well if that doesn’t happen.
Edit: I think the popular Solaris theme makes use of these, actually.
Thanks - I’ve had a quick look and they look good. They do seem to be the same as the Solaris icons.
From some quick research, it also seems I could allow users to change the colour of SVG icons.
Oh this’d be absolutely great. The only reason I ever bothered using AuroraPatch was because I didn’t like the set of icons at the top of the UI, so changing those out would relieve me of my only issue with this game’s UI.
maybe I am wrong but I have been thinking if it would make sense to “outsource” the UI-icons in a folder like the “flags”, “medals”, races", “shipicons” etc - with the “Aurora 4x”-UI-icons as basic and “new or other” Icons would just have to overwrite the original ones
so the community could present their own icons to select from and everyone pics the one he is interested in (this could also lead to different icon-sets for different playstyles, like an more “brutish” icon-style for a military-game or a more “soft” style for a more intellectual game… (or if playing a not-human-race even more theme based)
would also work with the “no mod” politic as a chance of icons woulnd’t touch the .db or .exe

Solaris color scheme and icons are essentially perfect for me.
Same for me, if you can introduce color theme would be perfect. Considering to include Solaris Theme or Christo Theme variant could be very cool
Please forgive me for being dense, but how would the new icons be used in a game? Where would they appear?
These would replace the current icons for the buttons at the top of the game window, I believe.
If there are no copyright concerns and the icons are made so that one can pick them from an external file some of us might like to keep using at least some of the current icons so sharing them at some point might be nice if things develop down this path.
