Note that this is an archival AAR which I am reposting to this forum for the sake of posterity. As such, the game has already been played and there will be a definite end to the AAR posts. As such, comments from “future” readers are, as always, welcome, but any insights gained from the discussion in this thread will not be reflected in the game as played.
This “meta-comment” collects comments from the old AAR forum thread which I deem to have some sort of historical value or significance.
Currently I am not able to access most pages of the old forum thread, so many potentially interesting comments remain inaccessible. Only about 5 pages of the old forum thread are archived in Wayback Machine. Notably, an entire page of excellent flag art by Warer is lost to history.

I make them by hand in paint.net. The first couple times I made them it took a while, but once I figure out how to arrange things the way I want with spacing etc. it goes fairly quickly. I also have a template sheet of all the icons that I copy and paste from.
I too liked Steve’s WH40K campaign, and while I’m not trying to emulate his work per se (the railguns are a coincidence, I swear!) I won’t deny a certain measure of inspiration was taken.

I’ll post them up here for now but if there is more interest I can create a separate thread in the downloads forum which gives more detail and maybe some up-sized versions, as these are a bit small since I initially used them for more detailed OOB charts - for the lesser level of detail I have here I really could use 1.5x or even 2x size for legibility.
Attached are template PNGs in black and cream (same color as most of the text in Aurora) outlines. Most of the icons are fairly standard but a few are custom designs.
Author’s Note: the attachments on the forums were lost from the original thread following a purge of uploaded files to reduce the site size on the host servers. Fortunately, I have maintained these original templates and have re-attached them below, along with a gold-colored set of the same icons:

As a side note, it appears that Discourse does not allow editing posts after 30 days, so the table of contents remains sadly incomplete. Perhaps someday we will have the technology to do better. Edit: Praise Steve! The edit limit is now 90 days, so the table of contents is now properly complete. Huzzah!
Hi there and thanks for great story, my only big campaign in VB version was around missile weaponry, but reading your aar made me want to try railguns and some box launchers!
What name list for your officers did you use?
Battlestar Greek, if I recall correctly. It’s a really fun name theme and I use it for most of my campaigns at least as one name theme among several.
Battlestar Greek was a name theme I created while testing the C# version of Aurora. As you might guess, I started with the names from Battlestar Galactica series and expanded it using Greek mythology. It works fairly well in conjunction with the WH40k Empire theme as well.

My favourite Aurora campaign report. Glad it isn’t lost to the void.
Fortunately, I made a habit of writing every update in a Google Doc before posting, back on the old forums. This meant that I had the vast majority of the content that was posted, and just had to convert it to the new forums’ Markdown format. I now have (almost) all of the published content contained in an Obsidian vault, currently on my own machine but which I should at some point push up to cloud storage or GitHub or something.
The content which I could not preserve mainly consists of a few chapter titles (since I usually made those up at the time of posting), some out-of-character comments at the ends of updates, and a couple of specific replies/comments which contained small bits of universe lore. There was also a glorious full page of flag chat that is lost to history.
