Why doesn’t the orbital station mine anything? The asteroid is designated as a colony. The station itself has 25000 cargo. I’ve already fast-forwarded time by a month.

You do not need cargo storage for your orbital miners. Mined resources are stored on the planet. It is in general better to use dedicated cargo ship to pick up resources, or mass driver if there is production colony in system.

Considering how large Orbital Miners tend to be, I think it’s beneficial for them to have a cargo bay so that they can carry their own mass drivers. This reduces micromanagement and ship spam, and once the OM has stripped its target I can simply have it pick up the mass drivers and then move on without having to spend an age re-doing freighter orders.
