USE Frigates

My first warship designs in a long time and especially in 2.7, ive finally started a serious game.

With the help of a lot of feedback on the discord, i’ve designed and put 3 classes of warship in service so far, approaching 40 years into my relatively standard start, but with 25% research rate.

First off were the Abilene class FACs.

Originally created mostly for PPV, they are relatively fast for NP and carry a 10cm laser.

After several modifications, this is the last variant in service, with a squadron of 6 protecting Sol.

Shortly after these entered service, i developed NGCE and began developing a successor with a 15cm spinal laser.

However, the smaller space for engines made it slower than id like, and with no real threats at the the time known meaning there was no rush, i decided to develop full warships instead.

The first is a natural extension of that original FAC into a 10k ton warship, the Ludington class Frigates. Armed with a 15cm spinal laser and 7 10cm lasers, it packs a decent punch, with high enough speed to run down a certain stealthy spoiler…

The newest class are the Saginaw class.
Closely related to the Ludingtons (enough to be built in the same yard with no modifications), the Saginaw class are railgun frigates meant for both ship to ship combat and point defense, with their 8 10cm railguns.
